MOTHERHOOD AND FITNESS: TIPS ON HOW TO BALANCE THE TWO

How did you motivate yourself to get fit again after having kids?
I won’t lie it can be a challenge finding balance after having a baby.

I’m constantly listening to my body and making decisions instinctively so I can decide what part of my life needs time.

I’m conscious about the food I eat, the way I move my body, the people I surround myself with, how I train my mind, what I do to enhance my creativity, and so much more. I can’t imagine a life another way.

How do you balance healthy eating, being and mum and a busy work schedule?

Whenever I’m on the go I try and take my own healthy snacks like raw nuts, collagen bars or fruit. I also never deprive myself, if I feel like something sweet, I’ll make my own healthy treat.

Having a work/life balance can be tough at times. Misha (my husband) and I are really great communicators and always talk through our plans and how we’re feeling. If there’s ever too much of one thing in life, another part will suffer, so learning to be okay with sacrificing something has been super important.

Do your kids eat similar food to yourself?
They sure do! I do my best to make and provide them with macro-balanced foods with a good mix of fruit, grains and proteins.  I aim to change it up daily depending on what they feel like, and what we have left over.

What advice would you have for new mums who are feeling insecure about their fitness?
It’s about listening to your own body, and your own child. You will know what is best for you.

Routine is important, but also knowing when you need to stop and take a moment.

My brother always says to me, every steps counts no matter how big or small it may be. You don’t need to be a green juice drinking yogi to reap the benefits of living a healthy, low toxic life.

Start by making small changes whether that be moving your body more or learning to make healthier meals. It all adds up!
